While many believe the promise of blockchain has been overhyped, Larry Tabb is not among them. The challenge, he says in his latest video editorial, is that the technology is so core to banks’ middle- and back-office operations that it will take time for widespread adoption, and the transformation is likely to take years or even decades. The more immediate transformation, Tabb notes, is occurring in the fixed income markets. Innovation and electronification are set to remake fixed income trading, he says, and the rise of FI ETFs is driving much of the new market dynamics.
